Pupils learning rocket science

PUPILS had a blast when a 40-foot rocket was the centre piece of their science lesson.
Starchaser Industries brought the Skybolt rocket to Cartmel Priory CE School on Wednesday. (March10)
The Cartmel secondary school is a specialist science college, so it hosted the visit. Skybolt is capable of reaching 100 miles into space at a speed of more than 3,000 mph.
Students from the Cartmel secondary school, Sandgate School, Kendal, and pupils from Cartmel cluster primary schools took part in science activities and a workshop focused on space.
The youngsters got the chance to build small rockets, which were then launched in the playground.
Around 140 primary pupils attended from Cartmel CE Primary, Flookburgh CE Primary, Lindale CE Primary, Leven Valley CE School, Allithwaite CE School, and Grange CE School.
Cartmel Priory received sponsorship for the visit from BAE Systems Submarine Solutions and Forge Europa. BAE graduates will give talks on engineering careers at BAE.
Between this month and June, all six primary schools will host rocket workshops assisted by BAE Systems graduates.
